Barred Owl
A wise old owl sat on an oak; The more he saw the less he spoke; The more he spoke the less he heard; Why aren’t we like that wise old bird? – Author unknown
My dad and I were down at the farm one evening, and we saw this barred owl in the yard. Thankfully I had my camera as it landed in one of our huge oak trees. These birds have the ability to fly with no sound, and incredible senses that allow them to hunt and locate their unsuspecting prey in the dark.

I’m down right jealous, now. I’ve heard owls at night, but never seen one up close and in person outside of the NC zoo. The best I’ve been able to do was a red-shouldered hawk outside of Mocksville –

If I ever disappear, well, read the blog post and you’ll see why.
Karen, I was pretty amazed it let me get as close as I did. That’s unusual. MB
