Experimenting with HDR

I just recently downloaded the Simply HDR app for my iPhone. I’ve never been a huge fan of HDR, but surprisingly it has opened up some new creative possibilities for me.

I don’t like this kind of technique on every photo, but for certain things it works well. Here’s a a couple of photos I’ve taken with this new app. I finished both images off in Photoshop using Perfect Effects. Enjoy! ~MB

  1. Hmm. I have the ubiquitous Instagram and Hipstamatic on my iPhone and I’m kind of blech about using them. Maybe this app would help change my mind?

The photo today on my blog was taken using the HDR function on my Panasonic Lumix FZ150. Obviously not true HDR (like your app), but it made for a fun snapshot.

  2. I saw your image, and wondered what you used for the effect. Nice! Have you hiked the trail under the viaduct? That area in/around Grandfather Mtn is awesome. When I was through there about a month ago, some of the overlooks were closed for construction. MB
