Science Hill Friends Meeting

No place is so dear to my childhood, as the little brown church in the vale. –William S. Pitts, 1857

Randolph County has some beautiful old churches. While on my way down to hike in the Birkheads one day, I stopped to get a photograph of Science Hill Friends Meeting at the corner of Lassiter Mill and Science Hill Roads. I actually visited once many years ago, and it’s even more rustic and quant on the inside. ~MB

  1. I love the old churches out in the countryside, too. Have you been down to Rowan County and seen the stone churches outside of Granite Quarry? Built by German Lutheran immigrants, the inscriptions over the doors are in German as are some of the tombstones in the cemeteries.

Wonder how Science Hill got its name.
