Yates Mill
While I was in Raleigh this past weekend visiting one of the few remaining camera stores in this area, I stopped on the way home at Yates Mill. This is the last operational gristmill in Wake County, dating back to the 1750’s.
The mill is now part of a 174-acre park located 5 miles south of downtown Raleigh on Lake Wheeler Rd. There are 3 miles of hiking trails around the 20-acre Mill Pond, and a very nice visitor center.
